Apple may soon build its Maps application information on public transport, in the United States at least. This at least suggests that the acquisition of Embark, a start-up specialized in the field.
By
way of Google's services to its Maps application, Apple has also done a
full Google Maps its main competitor. And it is clear that it is still
far from offering the same functionality. A delay that attempts to fill
gradually acquiring companies specializing in various fields. The latest
example?Embark, an American start-up company founded in 2011 that has
made American Public Transportation's area of expertise.
Jessica Lessin , former reporter for the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple indeed has finalized the acquisition of the company, which already has several Android and iOS applications to his credit. They inform users about the status of transit traffic in major cities in the United States.Or rather renseignaient in the case of Android users as their new owner was quick to remove the Google Play Store.
The idea is obviously not simply to offer exclusively on the App Store but to integrate a similar service directly to the iOS Maps application, as already offers Google Maps. Some sources report that the Embark teams and Apple already be working hand in hand with this integration. The largest Apple resources could also be used to expand the coverage to other major cities, perhaps outside the United States.
